Considering initial finite delaminations in symmetric laminated composite plates of four different thicknesses in each of wraparound and without wraparound groups, delamination parameters such as strain energy release rate (SERR) components and total SERR are evaluated from single finite element analyses using MCCI approach ( based on Irwin’s CCI concept ) for each of the eight laminate models. Effect of wraparound on delaminated composite plates is to be studied in details. An approach to the design of wraparound composite laminates for suppression of delaminations is to be prescribed.
