[Ilugc] Regarding internet connection in fedora core 2

Dear friend,
I am using fedora core 2 and win XP dual boot...
In XP i am able to connect at 45.2 kbps(dial up-touch tel) during night hours...
 
In fedora core 2 ..
it connects only at 9600bps..dead slow...
I tried connecting using kppp and system-config-network -both connect at the same speed...
What changes should I make???Please help?
 
 
I also need details regarding data cables for color nokia phones..
I have a 6610 and 3100.Do anybody of you use cables with these mobiles...
Where to buy such cables in chennai(trustable place)...
 
R there drivers and softwares for linux similar to windows software(Nokia PC suite)
Is connecting through mobile cheaper or costlier than  ordinary dialups..???
I have aircel prepaid  and hutch postpaid connection...
 
I need some suggestions....
