[Ilugc] make command

Generally in opensource Project More and More files
will be available in the "src" directory.

If I want to compile that directory after modifying
anything in any of the files I have make the whole
directory by giving 'make' command It will make the
whole file.

But I want a method so that It has to compile only the
modified and the executabel should use the
modification

Can any one tell me the method How I can acheive that
