As long as you know in detail what your sysinit scripts do and tweak
them to suit your need to boot both Fedora, as well as Slackware. There
are lots of other configuration files which are different in both these
distros. For example, apache configuration files vary (Fedora uses
Apache2, Slackware uses Apache 1.3.x). The default user/group scheme are
different across these distributions. Some programs in Slackware behave
a little differently than the similar counter-parts in Fedora.
Simply put, there's a lot of work involved in ironing out the oddities
of both the distro, sharing the same config files. I guess the more
effort you put into it... you will either end up converting slackware to
resemble redhat, or vice-versa (sysinit, configuration, libraries, so
on). You might end up losing the very essence of either distributions
(system startup, default configuration, and so on).
But it can be fun way of learning how one distro is different from the
other (as long as you dont end up losing valuable data).
Good luck with it :-)
