Yes! VB+Win32+blahblah powerful, but check out the code that is being
generated by the VB compiler. Its nasty! And the point of fact is VB
is proprietary unlike M$'s C# (C#'s specification has been released to
ECMA standards). So, I guess no good implementation for VB itself can
come in the near future that generates better code. Also, M$ is
promoting C# in favor of VB.
So, C# is probably a viable alternative for VB and its implementation
is available on both Win32 and GNU/Linux.
