One little known factoid seems to be that he's worked a *lot* on text editors
in his youth. What's so fascinating about editors that it attracts the
best hackers (RMS/EMacs, ...)? All the folks who're fighting about CLI/GUI
Emacs, etc. would do well to read this article.

Anyway, the section on filesystems/databases, some of the CS work at
Google labs, the OO analogies, etc. are all fascinating.
