My thoughts below:

There is no doubt Linux is far superior than windoze
in terms of stability, security and performance. 

I would encourage you to read:

[1] Abraham Silberschatz, Peter Baer Galvin & Greg
Gagne. (2003). Operating System Concepts. (6th ed.).
John Wiley & Sons.

If you would like to understand the Linux kernel
internals, then you can look into:

[2] Daniel P. Bovet & Marco Cesati. (January 2004).
Understanding the Linux Kernel. (2nd ed.). O'Reilly.

Linux has an excellent memory management system.
windoze hogs the hardware unnecessarily.
