[Ilugc] Gentoo 2005 installation problems

hello all,
 I encountered the following problem while installing gentoo,
after i installed my boot loader, it is not displaying properly at all,
how to configure my bootloader to display properly ??
right now its running in text mode, i disabled my splash image.
I installed in on laptop compaq celeron 2.8 with 128 mb ram and ATI
Radeon graphics card,
another things is that, the GRUB screen as well as the later sequences
of loading are being diplayed is a small area of my screen, rest is not
being used at all....
how to resolve out?
