Hi Sridhar, Kenneth Gonsalves and others,
Firstly, kudos to Kenneth Gonsalves for taking an
initiative, codecoolies.

Any suggestions?

Well. We also have to cater to other cities/remote
places because:
1. There are people in rural areas who cannot afford
to travel to the cities. But, you and me _can_
definitely afford to travel to these places.
2. Having an event in a town/small city gives the
people there an opportunity to market themselves. Some
companies might even want to setup bases in these
places. For example, Honeywell Technologies has an R&D
center in Madurai. It reduces the pressure on big
cities. Yes, I know about Bangalore traffic.
3. The event bridges the gap between academia and the
industry. Institutes like IIT, in the city, have a
fantastic collaboration with the industry. How many
colleges/institutions in towns/small cities have such
collaboration? Give them an opportunity. The event can
give them contacts for them to establish themselves
well and make a name for themselves.
Having an 2/3-day event in a college is ideal. "Tuxedo
2005" or "Carte Blanche 2005" are good examples. They
were a mixture of contests for students, industry
talks, stalls, fun and frolic!
> I believe the first meet should happen
> in a popular place.
Place doesn't matter. Its the people behind the event
that really matter.
