hi evry1,
shakthi..correct me if i m wrong..doesnt different distros have
different styles for customizing the vannila kernel..if i can recollect,
back in fc1..my sound card simply refused to get detected but in
pcqlinux(a derivative of fc1)..it got detected outta the box..so wouldnt
there be a vast difference between two different distros like redhat and
suse when it comes to hardware compatibility..i mean when a vannila
kernel amounts to around 40 mb...there are complete distributions like
puppy dog, DSL which are just 50 mb in size..maybe they dropped certain
modules including stuff which you dont really need in a desktop env and
also some less popular hardware..assuming this wouldnt it be simply best
to go and compile from the stock kernel and suit it to our content
when there are big differences in the kernel itself..will there be a
change in how (say a ubuntu or debian) distributions work..comments
please

regards
