[Ilugc] Can't change resolution with Mandrake 10.1

Hi all,
I installed Mandrakelinux 10.1 available with LFY. GNOME is
installed. The default resolution is 800x600. It is annoying to work
in this resolution in GNOME. I tried changing it to 1024x768 through
Configuration --> Screen Resolution. With this resolution menus are
not displayed. Then I tried the command line XFdrake to set it and the
test screen shows that the screen is not properly aligned. It is
aligned to right of the screen.

This resolution was working in FC3.

Hardware
AMD Athlon XP 2200
Asus A7V8X mother board
Samtron 45Bn Monitor.

The 800x600 resolution settings @ 75 MHz (?). The monitor and graphics
card was automatically detected and have correct horizontal and
vertical frequencises as in the Samtron manual.

Any help is appreciated.

The cove of the CD says that it is Community Edition but
/etc/mandrake-release says that it is Official Edition.

rgds
Antony Paul
