[Ilugc] CVS Setup - issue

Is it possible to send mail from a shell script.
I tried the mail command but it doesn;t work. The
sendmail service was running.

mail -s test mail mail_id at server.com
Is there any additional configuration required ....


     I downloaded the CVS for linux from cvshome.org
installed it according to steps given in the same
portal. But I couldn;t run the cvspserver service. I
can see a entry in the /etc/services but when I run it
service cvspserver It tells me unrecognized service.
Any idea if i have missed somethuing

cd cvs_linux/
bunzip2 -d cvs-1.11.19.tar.bz2
tar -xvf cvs-1.11.19.tar
cd cvs-1.11.19
vi INSTALL
./configure
make install
vi /etc/services
vi /etc/xinetd.conf
services xinetd restart
man nmap
nmap
nmap localhost
service cvspserver
The version which i downloaded is cvs-1.11.19
