[ilugc]configuring ftpd

hi frndz,
I am trying to configure in.ftpd daemon to allow anonymous login. The
man page told me that a user by the name ftp must exist. I did as
given in the man page, but anonymous login was not enabled.
So here i hv a few doubts, which were not cleared in the manual:
1. Must there be any specific uid for the uset 'ftp'?

2. User 'ftp' must belong to which group? Should i create a new group
'ftp'? Is there any specific gid for it?

3. Must i set a password for the user 'ftp'?
