Hi sir,with your guidance i carried out the steps in your above
mail and report as follows:-
i have successfully managed to connect to the BSNL(Bharat Sanchar
Nigam Limited, the ISP run by the Indian government) using kppp;i
have verified the connection by using ifconfig within which i could
see that pp0 was assigned an IP and kppp also shows successful
connection ; then, i can see that i am getting a nameserver IP from
the service provider which i verified by looking into
/etc/resolv.conf;but i am unable to make any dns lookups; the
default route has been verified by using route-n command which
shows that i have a default gateway;
2.i have tried using dig
dig www. google .com
the output of the dig shows that i could connect to the DNS but i
am not getting any answer section;
therefore i am unable to proceed further; kindly help
regards ram,chennai,india
