Sure. I had given a talk on IPsec at IIT in March. You
should find the slides on the LUG website.
I have hands on experience in various aspects of
crypto but I need to know what topics you are
Please collect your thoughts and needs. Whether you
want to do it offlist or otherwise you decide. We also
have to make sure people are really interested.
At least from whatever response I got from IPsec talk
I think people do have interest but it will help me
and you both immensely if you can tell me what topics
are of immediate interest and relevace.
I will get you started by whatever little I can do.
*) Intro to security ( symmetric and asymmetric
crypto, RSA, AES, DH, Blowfish, DES , hashing and
message digests(MD5, SHA*),HMAC, signatures,
*) Security protocols(SSL/TLS,IPsec, ssh, VPNs, MPLS,
auth protocols like challenge response, single sign
*) Security toolkits (OpenSSL, kernel crypto, hardware
*) Security programming (buffer overflows, key
management strategies,password hashing,storage, vm
encryption, cryptographic file systems)
*) PKI (X.509 certificates, web of trust, OCSP, CA,
*) Firewalls and spam control ( stateful and stateless
firewalls, TCP scrubbing, port forwarding, reverse
NAT, binat, TCP proxy) and spamassasin, mime-defrag,
vipul's razor ( I have no clue about commercial
*) Security power tools like nmap, nessus, nc
*) Career prospects for security
Kindly select a subset from the above that is of
interest to maximum number of people.
Please respond fast or else the interest will get
We will fix up a date that is convenient for everyone
What say? :-)
Looking fwd to meeting you all soon. :-)
