i18n afaik is not on the agenda for either ruby or rubyonrails -  
there are third party addons which you have pointed out. I am not  
trying to flame ruby (dont know enough about it to flame it) but find  
it odd that is practically the only mainstream language which does  
not have i18n, nor has it on the TODO list
