If you can, then check out the CD given with LFY a couple of months 
back. It has Eclipse latest version in it. You just need to unzip the 
contents and there is nothing to install/configure as such. Just a click 
away!
Or else, you can try the Ubuntu repos, with apt-get. You can get/instal 
Eclipse as well as CDT and other plugins using apt-get itself.
