[Ilugc] problem in the output of which command

hi all,

whenever I use which command I am getting the following output added to which.

$ which sftp
machtype: Command not found.
/usr/bin/sftp

I don't understand why that machtype is coming out from which output. I checked alias also. there is not alias set for which.
