[Ilugc] Time setting in Redhat Linux

Sir,
     In my Acer PC (AMD athlon), System date is frequently changed abruptly.
To synchronize the  RTC(hardware) with system date and time( software), I
edit grub as

kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-22.EL ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet *noapic acpi=off*
Now system will not switched off automatically during shutdown.

Any other Idea to set an RTC date and Time with system date and time?
