I have never tried RHEL, but if it does possess a rescue feature like
Fedora, then I guess it has to be either booting with a Rescue CD or
booting with the first CD with "linux rescue" at the boot prompt,
following which the detected system is mounted in /mnt/sysimage for
you to fix, either by fiddling around in it, or by chrooting in there
and running the commands you want.
HTH. I am not sure if this will work in RHEL, though.
