Hi Muneer,
That i did when I 'had' access to the net. Then after 30 minutes later when it went down I tried this and the output is:
root at ubuntu:~# telent google.com 80
-su: telent: command not found
root at ubuntu:~# telnet google.com 80
Trying 72.14.207.99...
Connected to google.com.

When I try to ping Google, this is what I get:
root at ubuntu:~# ping google.com
PING google.com (64.233.167.99) 56(84) bytes of data.
>From segment-124-7.sify.net (124.7.230.97) icmp_seq=1 Packet filtered

Pininging Microsoft
root at ubuntu:~# ping microsoft.com

Another strange thing is when I am blacked out:
1. I cannot browse the Internet whereas when I put Microsoft.com, it opens flawlessly. It cannot open any other site.
2. Even Synaptic can download things at good speed.
3. However, Synaptic cannot index repositories when I am in 'no net cloud' However it can 'download and install software.
4. If I use any other Internet application, it works well.
5. Sites it opens is Microsoft.com, winap.com, download.com, cnet.com etc but not other like google, yahoo, ubuntu and many more...
This all is making it complicated. If there is something wrong with browser, why does it open sites at sometimes but not at other times...?
