hi ...thanks for your suggestions
i am able to see my /boot/grub/menu.lst, when i try to list my HDD partions those are in the order as mentioned below
/dev/hda1 win95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/hda2 win95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/hda3 Linux
/dev/hda4 win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hda5 Linux swap
/dev/hda6 Linux
where hda1 and hda2 are C and D drive of Win resp. hda3 is /boot ,hda5 is swap,hda6 is /(root).
As you suggested
i tried the following command
#grub-install /dev/hda
i got the error as /dev/hda does not have any corresponding BIOS drive. The same error repeats even when i mention the partition No (i.e /dev/hda{1-6} )
