The problem with  'WE' in 'we have to organise' is  how many WE are available physically, how many WE can get sponsors, how many WE have contacts in media etc. Also OSI type events are very costly and in my opinion Rupee/visitor ratio is very expensive.

We (I mean ILUGC) being an informal organisation the best is to do
a.College seminar/workshop etc. So far we are doing mostly in engg
  colleges. We should catch Science and polytechnics also.
b.LDD the way we did at MIT, Asan and Planetarium.
c.Each member does something in his sphere of influence.
d.Try to contact other professional bodies like CSI, IEEE etc
   and do awarness campaigns.
e.We should identiy, motivate (if needed support financially)
  talented students like sudharshan, sivaj, selva etc, so that
  India contributes to FOSS, instead of just a consumer.
f.Schools require some attention from us. There are lot educational
  tools in FOSS unutilised by us. Based on fossconf experience where
  two schools did exceedingly well, I feel we should focus here.

Of course, there is no point in planning, thinking, collecting idea, discussing future .... etc, there are have  no meaning if we don't do.
And we cannot do, if we do not have enough physically present volunteers.

So please volunteer to the events. 

Bhargav, I think you are a student, can you please try something in your college?
