Subject modified, sorry for that. To give you some more information on the nature of the application: It's like a distributed cache, getting messages (like streaming data) and keep them for a while in memory and pass it to the respective clients/users.

I've installed RHEL linux on my server (v2.6.18-128.1.1.el5) and also have one solaris kit (SunOS 5.8 Generic_117350-39 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-880). Currently I'm running an multithreaded app (written in C++/POSIX) and I'm seeing significant difference in execution times. Can someone please let me know if you have tools/scripts handy to measure the performance (I/O, Memory and CPU utlization) of the distributed apps running in two different operation system environments? Any pointer to understand this difference are appreciated.
