[Ilugc] mysql : not working in Terminal

[selvamani sampath]

I installed mysql-admin, mysql-server, and mysql-client5.1. But I got the error message while trying mysql in terminal. The error is :

selvamani at selvamani-laptop:~$ mysql
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'selvamani'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
selvamani at selvamani-laptop:~$

Could any one help me to resolve this problem.
