I don't know many Linux users who are not geeks. And the non geeks want to
stick to Windows. But this is my opinion. I am sure you would have done some
research before starting the business.
All the very best. I wish you success. We need more people like you who want
to be on their own.
Out of my experience (in engineering line), I would also inform you of the
requirement of service people even before you start selling. People will be
willing to wait even for a day or two when they buy from a reputed brand,
but will want you 'yesterday' when they are dealing with a small/start up
company.
I did try Linux based systems for our machines (control and data acquisition
system) - They worked brilliantly even out performing Windows. BUT I had to
turn back to Windows the ONLY reason was service and support. It was very
easy for our clients in the North to get a local computer technician to sort
out issues in a Windows machine. The funny part was that even hardware
issues will not be addressed by the technician because Linux was installed
in it!
