Re webmin - beware and keep it up to date.  Although it is boon as an
administrative tool, it has a checkered history vis-a-vis security.
Also read other user feedback for a differing PoV.

I have found SystemRescueCD  <http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page> to
be an invaluable tool.   It has pretty much everything on it including
FREEDOS to flash your BIOS updates as well as a minimal  XFCE desktop
with gparted and a browser in case you need to research and download
updates.  Supports both i386 and amd64 kernels and tools.
