Besides guidelines in top/bottom posting, I would like to highlight the need for

1. "quoting" only the relevant portions of the message when replying.
 It is very annoying to see +1 or a me too (at least to me) at the end
of a long quoted message. Here the chap has followed the guideline
of bottom posting but has unnecessarily quoted the entire posting
which is anyway available in the list archives and sorted by
thread/subject.

2. Proper attribution/quoting is also important when you **forward**
some "piece of interest" type announcements/ or discussions.

Not a link or a screen shot but here is a copy/paste of one my sig lines.

<sig>
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing in e-mail?
</sig>

The above illustrates the point about how top posting can screw up a discussion.
